MY VALUABLE BRAKE LEVER
December 12, 2008 @ 2:08 AM - Brian
I got new bars today, which I should be glad about, right? Wrong. My current bars, which are old, dented, rusted and awesome, are also the home to my 12 year-old Dia-Compe Tech 77 lever. I’ve been riding the same lever since 1996, and I’m scared that one more handlebar switch is going to strip out the precious alloy threads inside of the lever, rendering it useless. So the new bars are sitting next to my bike, probably wondering what’s going to happen to them. Basically it’s a matter of sentimentality. I have extra levers I can use, newer ones that would even work better. But the one pictured here has been all over the world with me, through thick and thin, probably saving my life more than a few times in thick traffic. Plus I like the way it feels. And I don’t own any other bike parts that have been with me since the death of Tupac. All Eyez on the Tech 77, I suppose…
