2 THINGS THAT I’VE FOUND IN MY PAPER BOXS
September 23, 2008 @ 11:23 PM - Paulo's Portugese
I’ve found this 2 precious things between a lot of stickers and other papers that I keep on paper box’s, in my office at home.
This xerox paper had almost 18 years...It’s the list with the classification from the finals of the first Spanish National Freestyle Champion Series, in Badajoz, organized by the ZERO club from badajoz Spain. This contest was memorable, I remember leaving at early in the morning on Saturday just to arrive in Badajoz at breakfast time. It was our (for the portugueses riders) first riding tours. It was my first time in Spain just to ride, and after the constests (2 years in a row 1990/91) I made there some really good friends (Alex, Pablo, Miguel, all the MBM). At that time David Quesada (owner of Fly bikes) was the guy that ruled the show, and I remember that we all look at him like a pro (he looked like DMC!!) doing some fast nose wheelies at night in the streets of Badajoz. Now looking again to the list and I saw a name that every rider now knows, Ruben Alcantara Ortiz, “Pollo”, at that time just another rider from Málaga having fun (i’m sure he still does).
The other thing that i’ve found was this 2HIP sticker that Graig Campbell give me on a demo that he and Dino Deluca did in Portugal (i think in 1990). Dave Volcker, Todd Anderson, Dino Deluca, Brian Blyther, Mat Hoffman, Ron W., and other’s riding vert, those guys ruled. Then “2HIP Meet the Streets”, the Street comps on real street, its just what I remember… ohh and Ron Wilkerson eating grapes, and Pete Agoustin trying to sell a T’s on “Monster of Suburban highlifes”.
