Describe your personal bike setup?
I guess it’s a little old school. I like a little seatpost and a fat seat, as well and keeping it a little heavier. It’s set up for a tall guy, and I run the 165mm cranks to keep my back foot away from the peg.
Describe the contents of your personal bike tool bag?
Pretty simple, just a random wrench and a chain breaker
What part do you wear through the quickest?
Grips and tires. The Arizona heat will destroy a set of grips in no tiime, and the rough ditches here can be pretty rough on tires.
What part do you break most often?
I used to go through cranks pretty often, but the Revolt cranks are killing it.
Do you patch flat tyres or get new tubes?
It never works when I patch flats, and my local shop Kore Bike Industries hooks it up fat on tubes so thats the easier route.
Which parts are you paranoid about breaking?
It seems like breaking a set bars or forks could be pretty dangerous so thats always in the back of my mind, but knock on wood it has yet to happen!
Where do your parts go when you’re done with them?
If they are thrashed I throw them in the recycle bin, but if they are in decent shape I will keep them as a spare until me or one of my friends needs them.
Who builds your wheels? anything special about them?
I worked at a shop for a while and like to think I can lace up a decent wheel. I will either lace them up myself or just run a stock pair. Nothing really special about them, I just like them to be nice and true.
Cassette or freecoaster?
I have flirted with the idea of getting a freecoaster, but probably never will. Cassette for life!
Kevlar bead or regular bead?
I never cared much for the kevlar, wire bead is doing just fine for me.
Plastic pedals or metal?
Metal, I land really heavy on my feet and every time I have tried plastics the pedal bodies break. Nothing against them it’s just not for me.
Plastic pegs or metal?
I am pretty set on metal, but I like to put my pegs on stuff. If metal is just not going to happen on a set up I have nothing against putting on plastics to give it a slide.
