Dew Tour Championships to be Held in Las Vegas at Season’s End
Burr Ridge, Ill. – March 15, 2010 – The Dew Tour, the world’s premier season-long action sports tour, today announced its complete schedule for the 2010 season. The 2010 circuit will return to Boston and Chicago for single-sport competitions and to Portland, Ore. and Salt Lake City for multi-sport events. Highlighting the 2010 schedule is the addition of new host city Las Vegas, where the final stop of the season – the Dew Tour Championships – will be held in conjunction with the year-end awards ceremony.
Bringing the Dew Tour to Las Vegas for the first time in the Tour’s six-year history, the world-famous strip will serve as a backdrop for the Dew Tour Championships as well as the Dew Cup awards ceremony. After moving the event closer to what many consider the mecca of action sports – Southern California – the finale to the sixth season will be highlighted by fierce competition in addition to an elevated awards ceremony for the Dew Tour’s year-end accolades.
“We are excited to host the first Dew Tour Championships in Las Vegas,” said Pat Christenson, President of Las Vegas Events. “Las Vegas has a long and storied history of supporting high-profile, season-ending championships. This event will be our first foray into championship action sports and a great addition to our roster of Signature Events.”
“I’m excited that the Dew Tour is going to be in Las Vegas this year. I love Vegas, so to be able to compete there seems almost surreal,” said three-time Dew Cup champion, Ryan Sheckler. “The talent on the Dew Tour is going to be amazing this year, so I’m just looking forward to the season and the level of skateboarding that we’ll bring to fans.”
The full Dew Tour schedule also includes a skate-specific (park and vert) stop in Boston in June, followed by a BMX-specific (park, dirt and vert) event in Chicago. The five-stop tour will then continue on to Portland, Ore., Salt Lake City and Las Vegas, all featuring multi-sport events. Over the course of the Tour, athletes will compete to accumulate points based on their individual-event finishes, each vying for the most overall points and the title of Dew Cup champion.
“All five of our host cities for this upcoming year have shown tremendous support, and the addition of Las Vegas to the slate will make the final event of the year that much more dynamic and dramatic,” said Chris Prybylo, Alli Vice President of Events and Dew Tour General Manager. “We look forward to what this season will bring and the climatic conclusion of the Dew Tour Championships in Vegas this October.”
Tickets for the 2010 Dew Tour will be on sale soon and will be available via Ticketmaster.com and at Ticketmaster box offices. Visit allisports.com for more information.
The complete 2010 Dew Tour schedule is as follows:
Event Date Location
Skate Open, June 25-26 Boston, Mass. – TD Garden
ISF Skateboarding World Championships
Nike 6.0 BMX Open July 23-24 Chicago, Ill. – Museum Campus
Wendy’s Invitational Aug. 12-15 Portland, Ore. – Rose Quarter
Toyota Challenge Sept. 16-19 Salt Lake City, Utah – EnergySolutions Arena
Dew Tour Championships Oct. 14-17 Las Vegas, Nev. – Hard Rock Hotel & Casino
Entering its sixth year, the top athletes in the world will take part in the 2010 Dew Tour, all competing for the highly coveted Dew Cup that will be awarded at season’s end to champions in each of the five disciplines. The 2009 Dew Cup champions include Chris Cole (skateboard park), Bucky Lasek (skate vert), Garrett Reynolds (BMX park), Jamie Bestwick (BMX vert) and Ryan Nyquist (BMX dirt).” - Allisports.com

SAME STUFF, DIFFERENT ANGLE
posted 1 day, 13 hours ago
”A few weeks ago, when Micah Kranz was in town passing through on his trip to Canada for shows with Mykel Larrin and John Rodgers, he showed me some awesome footage he’d been filming with this cool mini-HD camera and it blew me away. I asked him to give me the low-down on it and if he could fire up an exclusive edit with just the footage from his Go Pro Camera. As always, he delivered and the result is epic!
“While working at Windells this summer I got to test out a really small video camera that had a bunch of helmet, chest and handlebar attachments. I remember being really excited about them but figured they wouldn’t be available to the public or would be expensive. Fast-forward to the Baco contest in Milwaukee and Tony Neyer and Jeff K. were charging around with the same little Camera on their handlebars. The next day I ordered one and have been having a great time with it.
The camera is waterproof, shockproof, and has so many attachments that you can hook it to a small airplane. Plus it’s an HD camera for under $300, with no screen to break. My only complaint is some of the attachments come loose with all the banging around, but cutting apart and old tube and sliding it in between the attachments and the camera has seemed to do the trick. Check out www.goprocamera.com and see all the test video’s and options that are available. If you’re ballin’on a budget, this might be the camera you have been looking for.
In the words of my favorite Dig Magazine segment, I bring to you, “Same Stuff, Different Angle”. The riders are Mykel Larrin, Drew Bezanson, Bobby Delaat and John Rodgers, who have been traveling throughout North America doing shows and riding all sorts of different stuff. Hope you like it.” -Micah Kranz”

Weight of bike: Not sure 25ish I think, maybe a little less
Modifications: Cut steerer a little bit, always cut the flanges off my grips as well. I don’t change much really.
Describe your personal bike setup: I always try and have it running nice, no loose stuff or anything.
Describe the contents of your personal bike tool bag: Everything I need to take my bike apart and build it back up again, so I can fix it in most circumstances.
What part do you wear through the quickest? It used to be grips but these Season ones have lasted really well, so I don’t know, Tyres maybe?
What part do you break most often? I don’t know really as it varies, except I have bent the axles on 2 different sets of pedals this week, so probably them at the moment.
Do you patch flat tyres or get new tubes? I usually get a new tube if I’m in a rush, and patch the old one at home so I have a spare for next time
Which parts are you paranoid about breaking? I’d say forks or bars, as the consequences of failure could be unpleasant.
Where do your parts go when you’re done with them? Keep them as spares, give them back or give to a friend.
Who builds your wheels? anything special about them? Usually Jake or Neil at George Halls Bikeshop, except Ben from IMG sometimes does too, they are just normal wheels really but they both do a better job than i ever could!
Cassette or freecoaster? Cassette, I ran a freecoaster for a while last summer and it was fun, but i couldn’t handle it on faster rollbacks so I switched back again.
Kevlar bead or regular bead (tires, and why)? Just regular is fine for me.
Plastic pedals or metal? I prefer plastics, even though they still cut my shins it feels like they won’t be as sharp or do as much damage as metal, they slide better too as well as being cheaper.
”Canada’s Lee Dennis is one of the toughest and nicest guys in BMX. He posses amazing bike control and does it all with an effortless and casual approach. Having a relaxed style is a great attribute. What’s new with Mutiny these days? Anything going on that you are really excited about like trips, filming, or anything like that?
We got plans for some little trips through out the year. We haven’t picked out any places yet, really.
How about Eclat, Etnies and V-Club? Anything coming up with them you can talk about?
V-Club “For the Sake of the Video!”
How are you?
Just good for now. I don’t sleep enough.
What’s new in your life?
My friend’s got a backyard ramp now, its sick to ride. Sewing, playing guitars, hunted Quail… Yep.
Photo: Travis Kincaid
Have you been doing much traveling over the winter, or just sticking to Texas?
Been home a lot. It snowed a lot this year. Weird shit.
Anywhere you would like to make it to here in the near future?
Germany, California, Hell.
I feel like it has been a little while since I’ve seen any clips from you. Have you been working on a new edit or anything like that?
Finishing up my V-Club part. Hoping to keep it from coming out incomplete. I want to make some web shit even though I hate it hahaha. We will have some fun/cool things coming out over the web.
Where are you right now?
Home. Fort Worth. Texas.
Where are you off to next?
Beer Store.
What does your average daily routine consist of these days?
On days off I can sleep forever. I’ll usually be riding, helping family, doodling, drinking coffee or skating in my free time. Work days I skate to the shop by 8:30am. I cut different material for tents and awnings there until 5 then I’ll either go see my mom for some dinner or go grab some beers to chill with people at my house till we go out or whatever. Usually end up at home with people having fun too loud for the neighbors. Cleaning up is a shitty part of any day. You all know.
What’s the weirdest thing that has happened to you lately?
Went camping half a night… got home with half the things I took...bummed. Oh yeah, one thing was my phone. Fun.
Tell us something people might not know about you.
One time I won a yoyo comp when I was like 11 or something. I haven’t had one since that time.
What does 2010 have in store for you?
Better be lots of green… and cash money.
Any plans for tonight?
I think it’s a slumber party…
