Describe your personal bike setup:
An Ashley Charles tribute bike with the full complement of pegs.
Describe the contents of your personal bike tool bag:
Socket, allen keys, chain tool, pedal spanner, tube, puncture kit, spoke key. By 26 i’ve learnt the value of a full tool kit.
What part do you wear through the quickest?
Grips.
What part do you break most often?
Not much these days. I’d like to think it’s because i’ve gotten smoother but i think the parts last longer.
Do you patch flat tyres or get new tubes?
Patch until they are spent.
Which parts are you paranoid about breaking?
Forks. I haven’t broken a set of 1 1/8” forks but it doesn’t bear thinking about.
Where do your parts go when you’re done with them?
Friends or whoever else needs them.
Who builds your wheels? Anything special about them?
I usually build them but these ones come ready built. Nothing too special except decent hubguards front and rear which i’m fully converted to.
Cassette or freecoaster?
Cassette. I watched Lard and Rob Ridge have some miserable freecoaster related crashes way back when and they were enough to put me off. I think i would like to try a coaster at some point when they are dialled enough.
Kevlar bead or regular bead tyres?
Kevlar at the moment as it makes packing a bike up small enough to get on trains easier.
Plastic pedals or metal?
Metal (with several pins removed) as they last longer.
