  • RAPID RESPONSE: BRIAN CASTILLO

  • posted 1 year, 1 month ago
  • How are you?
    Doing good thanks.

    What’s new in your life?
Ha-ha, nothing really. Other than working, riding and my social life I keep a boring/routine lifestyle. Sorry guys.

    Where are you right now?
I’m at work, drawing up some new products.

What does your average daily routine consist of these days?
I usually wake up early to ride skateparks and go to work following. If I get out of work early enough, I’ll try and hit up some street at some local schoolyards. My day usually ends with some dinner with the ol’ lady and then play around on the computer while having the tv on as background noise.

What was the last piece of design/artwork that inspired you?
It was probably during our last sticker contest for the Cutter. I had a ton of talented, legit artists submit and the top 3 guys definitely showed me other directions other than my own. For the last 10 years or so, it’s been just my direction. So to see anyone else’s work for Volume is really refreshing for me.

Is their one question people never ask you but you always wish they did?
Beats me, gonna have to ask them on that one. Isn’t that what interview questions are for? Actually, sometimes I wish the anonymous forum posters would just ask “what happened or why”.  Instead of assuming that the previous poster is correct on his assumptions.

Tell us something people might not know about you?
Wow, I don’t know what people already don’t know about me to answer that.

What does 2009 have in store for you and Volume/Demolition?
Since this is our 10 year anniversary we are doing a couple of “limited edition” Volume products to commemorate the history of the company. We’re also working on new smaller parts for Volume as well. For Demolition, we’ve been working on a new site and working on a whole new line of parts. Sorry to be vague but everything is in the drawing stages and we never know what will actually be sent to production yet.

    Any plans for tonight?
Maybe go for a run and do a little more work while watching American Idol.
