I know everyone’s probably switching into holiday mode and putting the BMX contest season on the back burner for the time being, but just a few weeks after Xmas, the 2009 season starts off with a huge bang in Estonia.
Yup, the Simpel Session is back. Returning to Tallinn, Estonia on the weekend of January 16-18, 2009, this is the ninth installment of the Simpel Session series. Last year’s comp hosted more than 10,000 spectators and definitely demonstrated that BMX comps can be fun, progressive and exciting while still maintaining a laid back vibe.
Here’s some specifics from Risto, the Simpel Session organizer:
“We’ll be holding a street jam as well as the best trick contest. Prize purse will contain royalties for all together 13 500€. Course design is made once again by Nate Wessel, who has been doing the job for the past 3 years. Let’s face is though, Mr. Wessel has again overdone himself. The course will be amazing. Contest will be again hosted by none other than Mr Catfish. The jam format itself means its relaxed as always, no pressure, just fun times on a bike. Several good parties, a bike film festival, over all just good times… The event will take place in Tallinn, the medieval capital of Estonia. Considering a population of almost a half a million people, Tallinn has plenty of nightclubs, bars and cheap joints to suit all and every taste. The Session will host 3 official parties - one for every night of the event. You have probably missed your flight over here if you’re not having fun in Tallinn!”
