  • STAY FIT PREMIERE IN VEGAS

  • posted 5 months, 2 weeks ago
  • The highly anticipated new Fit video Fit Life just premiered at Interbike/ NORA Cup Awards in Las Vegas. Let me start off by saying there aren’t any trick-by-trick Twitter updates, sorry. I’d rather leave some element of surprise for everyone who has yet to see it.  But the following is a brief rundown of the parts breakdown and some hints to some of the wildness in each.

The video is dedicated to Mike Aitken, who also won NORA Dirt Jumper, by the way, which was f-ing awesome and brought down the house when his name was announced as the winner .

Van starts it off, and well, you know Van- it’s filled with wild shit from start to finish, as all his parts usually are. What else would you expect from a legend like Van?

Chase Hawk has his typical signature flow with big transfers mixed in.  Check out his upcoming Empire video part for for the best of the best Chase clips in ‘09, though.  Seemingly out of nowhere, Chase won NORA Ramp Rider, which was almost as awesome as Mikey’s award.

Justin Inman came in next, reppin’ Oregon with lots of Burnside and brakeless trail footy in the great mossy, wooded Northwest trails, mixed in with some street, and a wild maneuver for an ender.

A nice surprise was seeing Rasta vegan shredder Russ Barone (pictured above with Eddie Cleveland) having a full part; this guy is one of the most underrated dudes out there.  He even grows and harvests his own veggies from a garden all year long.

Like the previous video Fit Life, Tom White and Edwin Delarosa have a split part that’s short but sweet.  You’re gonna have to wait until the Animal video drops to really see what these two have been up to in the past year or so, though.

The Flow dude/ friends section ended with Floridian Trey Jones earning his flow status with a few really original and refreshing clips.

The next section was highly anticipated for me- what did BF come through with this time around?  No disappointments here- Sayreville, FDR, and PA trail shredding, and his ender was ridiculous; check out the upcoming issue # 73 to see the sequence of that in print.

Eddie Cleveland and Jackson Ratima (seen above with Joey Spinoza) share a Bay Game part, and I gotta say Jackson had some of my favorite street clips in the entire video.  Well done.

Skateboarding superstar and BMX fan Chris Cole has a cameo as the beginning to Chase Dehart’s section (pictured above).  One of my favorite clips is the most subtle in the video, and it is of this girl taking a photo.  Long story short, it’s at a spot in Philly, where she works for a company that is a tenant at the building and she snaps photos of people who refuse to leave when she tries to kick them out. I know, that probably doesn’t make sense to most who are reading this. Anyway, in case you didn’t already know, Dehart is on the list of top three best bunnyhop whips out there.

Rounding out the video with the well-derserved last part is Dakota Roche. This guy earned it with every clip in his part.  I’ll leave the extended scroll of bangers out so you can enjoy his part to the fullest.  The last minute of his part alone is worth getting the video.  His last clip is… too crazy.

Is it the epic video that would be expected of such an epic team lineup?  Not exactly. And understandably for a few reasons, primarily due to the fact that most people only had about six months to film their entire part regardless of prior commitments to other projects, injuries, etc.  Those who started collecting clips early, and had the luxury of devoting 100% of their time to the video showed, (i.e. Van, Dakota) and they had amazing parts.  Regardless of the circumstances for some of the riders on the team, it’s packed with ridiculous riding, and worth getting a copy the minute the DVD drops. -RD
