Trail building tool of choice?
Insulated shovel, steel toe wellies, leather cowboy gloves for those brokeback moments, 96.3 rock radio, Wullie’s pishpot.
Snack of choice at the trails?
Flask of hot splosh/chicken wings from the deli counter.
What are your trails called?
‘Gorilla Trails’, although that name has been used at about 6 different locations over the years. Usually just ‘the wids’.
How long have they been around for?
We started work in late oct ‘07 and built non stop through the wettest winter/spring the U.K. has ever known.
Where are they?
Near where i live.
Who are the main crew/locals?
It’s pretty much just Big Sid and myself. there’s been a few others showed up and done a couple of shifts here and there also.
What’s your policy on visitors?
Usual rules apply, do a bit or GTF.
Any good stories to tell from your spot?
Bill Mins showed up last year and was pretty drunk, he had left his bike at the edge of the road and entered the woods. Some old pikey in a battered pickup stopped and tried to steal his bike, we challenged the dude who apologized and said ‘i’m just after some old scrap.’. Mins then said he could have the bike in exchange for some cans of cider.
What are your building plans for the new season?
Just get them dialled in time for spring, we only managed 3 sessions last year due to how bad the weather was, and see what needs done in terms of maintenance.
