Morgan Wade going big as ever during Dirt Finals. Superman whip.
The final day of the BMX Worlds in Cologne, Germany went off on Sunday and persistence on the weather front payed off in the end, with almost all of the pro finals going ahead (everything except street). In total 12,000 people showed up to watch what was a pretty special, if at times shambolic, Worlds. The Pro Dirt final was the real stand out with a huge crowd and a great atmosphere. Anthony Napolitan took the win with a string of ridiculous runs and Perico even made it through the set in his birthday suit!
Pro Vert attracted a bunch of loyal spectators even though torrential rain paused proceedings for a while. Most were there to see Jamie Bestwick ride and he definitely didn’t disappoint taking gold with downright perfect runs.
The last event on Sunday was the Pro Spine Finals and due to the bad weather it didn’t seem like it would happen, but persistence payed off again. A surprise win (kinda) went to Daniel Dhers, beating 14 year old Mad Dog Bananwitcz and Mark Webb to the podium. Everyone was completely blown away by Mad Dog’s riding with a giant barspin flair and everything pulled super high. One to watch for sure!
Jamie Bestwick doing what he does best. Huge downside whip.
Nyquist raises the roof mid train.
The crowd waiting for Spine Finals to go ahead.
Colin Mckay’s first air on the spine, tucking way way up.
Perico definitely gave the crowd an eye full.
Mark Webb, tuck no hander before breaking his bike.
