LEVI’S TRIP: DAYS 3,4, & 5

It has been a few days since the last post from the trip. There were a few contributing factors to that, and the main one was the lack of internet in “Lake Life”. Here is what went down on the last three days of the trip!

Fargo Skatepark

Day 3
Everyone woke up early to pack the van and hit the highway to Fargo, North Dakota. The three hour drive was filled with iPhone apps and a few good laughs to pass the time while dodging scattered showers along the way. After reaching our destination and a fill of pizza, we headed to the skatepark. The skatepark is a skate plaza type park that was smaller ledges, banks, quarters, and a mini/bowl that was a touch deeper. That didn’t stop the guys from having a pretty decent session. The kids on bikes were in shock when they realized guys like Nathan Williams and Dakota Roche were sitting next to them in Fargo of all places in the world. Another part of the day that was incredible was the air show that was taking place above our heads all day also. Blue Angels were screaming across the sky and kept everyone entertained through out the day. Here are a couple of photos from the day…

I snapped this photo of the Blue Angels flying above on my phone, it turned out decent. I was the only person on the trip without an iPhone….

Corey was claiming his euros weren’t very good when we were at 3rd Lair. I’d say this one wasn’t half bad.

Due to the places we went for the trip, Dakota was getting a lot of transition time. Here he is with another real solid invert.

Some of the brakeless guys were playing around on Zack Warden’s bike. I asked Dakota when the last time he had a picture of a fufanu, and he responded with “Probably when I was about 15″.

This photo does no justice to what Morgan Wade was trying. I really hope the clip makes it into the edit from the trip. Hang five, to hang nothing up a bank, then back down fakie about 20 feet.

Whoever said Zack Warden doesn’t have any rail tricks? Derek Duster!

After the session, we made a quick tour through Fargo to find a spot for some nose manuals, which you can see the “How to Nose Manual with Corey Martinez” on the Levi’s site or below. The spot wasn’t the easiest to find due to 80 year old security guys, and meth addicts giving us pointers on not looking back… This is what came from it, below.

After that, we headed back across the boarder to Minnesota for some time away from the world on Pelican Rapids.

Day 4 and 5

I’m going to combine these two days into one since they were fairly similar. Everyone rolled out of bed to the smell of an amazing breakfast courtesy of Kathy’s (Levi’s Team Manager) parents cooking. I don’t think I can begin to explain how good the food was these two days, which I’ll go into detail a little further down. After breakfast we headed down the stairs to the dock and onto the boat. The day was filled with tubing, wake boards, water skis, and a huge floating raft. It was relaxing to have little cell phone service, no internet, and the lack of city noise.

Here is a little video of some clips I grabbed off my camera that I got from the fun on the tubes and wake boards.

We finished off the first night with a feast and the movie “Fargo”. Most of the guys had not seen the movie before, so it was pretty entertaining with the strong Minnesotan accents.
The second day was the final day of the trip, and it was filled with all of the fun from the first day. Everyone spent most of the day getting cooked in the sun out on the raft, and boat. With things winding down, we came in for our last meal, and began to pack our bags and head back to Minneapolis.

I’d like to thank Kathy McGrath (TM), Will Stroud, Steve Buddeneck, and the whole team for bringing me on the trip. I’d also like to thank Shane (Kathy’s brother). A HUGE thanks to Paula and Wayne for cooking some of the most amazing carmel french toast, burgers, brats, chicken, and all the other amazing food they filled us with, along with taking us in for the two days of fun.

The trip may have been changed up a bit because of the rain, but in the end it was an amazing vacation.
