The Nike 6.0 Huntington Beach BMX Pro started yesterday. The contest location is unique because it is being held right on the beach, next to the U.S Open of Surfing that is going on also. This is probably the cause for the number of girls in bakini’s out numbering the BMX’s by at least 100 to one. The contest itself is unique because of the way it is being ran. The event is running four days, where each rider invited out gets two runs each of the first three days. The judges will judge like any other contest, but at the end of the day the riders are awarded points for their day, and then the top placing riders recieve money. The total pay out being $40,800 at the end of the 4 days. The top 10 riders with the most points will move to the finals where $30,000 of that money will be handed out. With the top 10 Dew Tour riders being pre-qualified, VitalBMX having voting four riders in, and the pros picking five, it makes for a stacked list of riders. The only downside to this is a few of the riders backed out due to injury, or focusing on the X-Games which are coming up next week.

The course might look familiar. It is a Dew Tour course some what condensed down. They build a platform and put the course right out on the sand. You can see how close the contest is to the ocean on the right.

Daniel Dhers killed it all day. Sadly, the shot of him doing an Air Traffic Controller (360 backflip no-hander) over the box turned out poor. I’m sure the opportunity will arise again in the next few days.

The youngest rider out on the course, Nicoli Rogotkin, was found pulling flairs, 540′s, superman seat-grabs, and so much more.

Slightly out of focus, but this photo sums up Dennis Enarson as out of his mind.

Diogo Canina has been killing it brakeless lately. Here Diogo is flairing over the bank into the other quarter.

Garrett Reynolds rides contests about as good as he rides street. I’d hope that paints a clearer picture than this photo.

Ryan Guettler with a nac-nac flair. Ryan was also pulling in a large number of the girls in bakini’s.

I shot a very similar photo of this same trick over the hip at the Chicago Dew Tour stop. Rob Darden pulling his signature one-handed tables.

None other than Daniel Dhers taking first place, on the first day. Daniel was rewarded generously with $1,000, and a girls shirt that got thrown at him from the stands.
Here is the list of places the riders got today. Some of the names are alternates for the riders who got hurt, or couldn’t make it to the contest.
