REFRESHING TAKES ON BMX

Blog by: Brian

If anyone’s been keeping tabs on us, we’re working on a new issue devoted entirely to trails. And so far, it’s coming along great. The one thing that’s really grabbed me so far (one of many) are the attitudes of the riders we’ve been interviewing. By and large, it seems like the people we’re featuring have no aspirations of “making it big” in BMX. They have their trails, they obsessively take care of and maintain their land, they want their privacy from the rest of the world and they’re not worried about getting sponsored, fitting in with the current trends, making money off of BMX or anything that I seem to encounter everywhere else in BMX. (There is shit talk, but it’s the friendly non-anonymous variety.)

It’s refreshing to say the least. Most of them actually seem to not want to know what the rest of the BMX world is up to. (Probably because riding and maintaining trails takes too much time out of one’s day to even begin to worry about mundane details.) So I’m psyched. And I hope everyone, even the riders that have never touched a set of trails and don’t care to, take the time to fully read and explore the new issue when it drops.
