Describe your personal bike setup.
I like my shit to be kind of short. Just recently stepped up to 20.5″ frame from a 20″. I like my back end a little longer. Needs to grind nicely and not make any noise. Small, light, fast. Four pegs, big bars, real seat. I’ve tried plastic pedals time and time again and just can’t get into it, so metal for me.

What part do you wear through the quickest?
Even though ODI grips are dah bomb I still go through them quick. They just get slices and holes in them from various things. Other then that, nothing. My shit is pretty dialed and reliable. Brooklyn put super glue in my pedals so they never come loose. Always have some shit in my back wheel for some reason, too.

Which parts are you paranoid about breaking?
Nothing! All this Fit stuff is actually holding up amazing. Into it. Super paranoid about breaking chains though, fuck that.

Where do your parts go when you’re done with them?
Depends on what it is, usually. I don’t really get new shit unless I actually need it so I don’t usually have a ton of stuff laying around.

You had your Making of Stay Fit drop a few weeks ago. How has filming and everything been coming along? Are you about done filming? How are things with Fit going in general?
Fit is better than I ever expected and more than I could ever ask for. I’m stoked. They run a good set over there. The making-of was super easy since it was just like a week of random one-hitter footage from around my house. If my deadline for Stay Fit was tomorrow though, I’d be happy with what I have. I still go out a couple times a week, so my choices could change. I’m just staying on the grind, and the day before the deadline I’m just going to pick my best stuff and cross my fucking fingers that someone somewhere will be into it. Hahah.

How do you feel about filming in general? Do you crack under pressure or does it make things happen quicker for you?
I had a totally different answer to this yesterday. I went out today to do this trick and ended up walking away after half an hour. Sometimes it just doesn’t feel right and I can’t push myself to do it. I can’t remember walking away from something without even trying it, and it was the most frustrating thing I think I’ve experienced in a while. Sometimes I’m just in the mood and can push the eating-shit thoughts out of my head to fire something out, and sometimes I just want to do a manual line. No pressure in Winnipeg, we can come home with ten clips or zero and we don’t really care.

Where in Canada have you been finding yourself riding more these days?
We have an awesome plaza right near the REPSET HQ. Not to mention the most outrageous selection of no-bust, uncapped street spots downtown. It’s paradise here. My time is split between one of the five awesome cement parks we have here and the streets.

Do you have any trips planned for the summer that you are looking forward to?
I’ve already done Toronto / Montreal / Ottawa. Then Regina / Saskatoon / Prince Albert (n/h). I’m home for a bit now to do some filming, then I think I’m going to do Edmonton / Calgary. Been busy kind of. Some good friends from France just left, so I was spending a lot of time showing those guys the ropes.

How are things going with the Repset site these days? What’s the deal with the MacBeal contest you guys were running?
Hahaha, fucking Repset. I think it’s more of just like a fun-thing now, more than ever. Everyone always asks how it’s going and shit, but really it’s just going the same it always has been. We’re not really a website, and it’s lame to say it’s a ‘crew’, but whatever. We all just ride and have fun still, so it’s deece. I like the BMXFU dogs, no one ever asks them how the FU is going. Everyone just knows they’re smoking copious amounts and not givin’ a fuck about anything.
The contest parody was something that I couldn’t believe hadn’t been done already. Jay said it was funny, which was a relief, because when I hit “Publish” I thought I was going to get struck by lightning or something. A lot of people took it really seriously though, I think. Random girls who I didn’t even think looked at the set were just like, “Yeah, I’m too old for you. I saw REPSET, how can you actually sleep with sixteen year olds? That’s disgusting!”
I think the worst part about it for me is that if someone else posted it everyone would know it’s a joke. For some reason everyone believes (knows) that I’m capable so I got a lot of shit for it. Whatever. Seventeen is the youngest I’ll go for the rest of my life, and if I’m making an exception I just need to remember that she’s getting older every second.

Are you guys planning on doing anything big anytime in the near future?
I don’t want to call it out, really. Whatever. There’s been talks about doing like a 30 minute mixtape. We have a ton of footage from everyone, so I want to put something together. It’d be dope to do a Stay Fit premiere in the city, and play our local scene video for everyone right before. I think dudes here would like to see themselves on a big motherfuck of a screen.

Who is the next big thing coming out of your area these days?
Disco Dave-the-Rave McNabb.

What is a typical day like for you? You have a pretty interesting job right?
I actually have a pretty normal desk job type of deal. Just web stuff, basically. I wake up, bomb through traffic. Sit at a desk and eat massive amounts of All Dressed chips. Pick between Subway / Sushi / Mexican / Japanese or Chinese noodle spots / etc for lunch. Then ride bikes till dark. See the/a girl at like 10PM. Rinse repeat. Oh, and in Winnipeg our weekend starts on Thursday so we get fucked up.

Any plans for tonight?
It’s Tuesday, so no. Thursday is a BMX riders birthday though. Like I said, Thursday is already a rowdy night so we should be showing Eric Marshall a fantastic time. Hopefully he gets alcohol poisoning but survives.

Do you have any shout outs, thanks, or anything else you want to say?
First and foremost, big ups to Robbo at Fit Bikes, Craig and Bernie at 1664, and everyone in between who makes riding my bike easier. Jay Miron at MacBeal bikes, David at RED, Dan Cook for shooting the glorious photos you see here, all the REPSET homies for holding the camera while I film some garbage. Brooklyn and Marc for holding it down for FIT in Winnipeg. All the fine ass honey dips, pimps, and macks for keeping it real. Lucky Lager for making an ‘Extra’ edition with 1% more alcohol for the same price. Everyone I’ve ever met through riding who hasn’t taken me too seriously. Kurt at DIG/BMX Union for poppin’ this shit off. Chijioke / Silva / the TOFU dudes for holding down the 416. BMXFU dudes for being rad. I think that’s it. I forgot some things obviously, but whatever. REPSET.
