Two new tires from Snafu (Malcolm-top, Sanford-bottom), both available with lightweight, foldable Kevlar beads. To begin with, we have what could very well be the first bike component to borrow its name from a civil rights advocate. The Malcolm tire features a multi-directional textured “X” pattern, suitable for use on parks and pavement of all kinds. The tire tread reaches from bead to bead for full wraparound coverage, with raised outer micro knobs for turning traction. Two sizes for the Malcolm tire (1.95”, 2.10"), with a weight of 592g for the 1.95 version.
Moving right along is the Sanford tire. I don’t know where the Sanford tire’s name comes from (maybe Redd Foxx’s character Fred Sanford from Sanford and Son?), but that’s not really important anyways. The Sanford tire features a multi-directional interlocking cross pattern for traction on parks and trails, with a smooth center ridge for low rolling resistance. Two sizes available (1.95”, 2.10"), with a weight of 617g for the 1.95 version. So there you go, two new tires from Snafu along with the only time I’ve ever mentioned Malcolm X on a BMX Web site. Sounds like fun to me…
